Marketing, a way of thinking

A lack of understanding of marketing is something that many marketers struggle with. Marketing isn’t just social media or direct mail. Marketing is a way of thinking. It is ensuring everything in your business is underlined with one true and essential concept… the customer comes first.

Marketing is the developing of strategies and processes across your business to ensure that you are always ahead of the game when it comes to your customers needs and wants. Knowing what they need not just based in data from the past, but an understanding of what they need now and in the future. Understanding current trends and having knowledge of the market as it stands is important but most importantly the understanding of what they will need in the future, even before they do is essential for the long term success of your business.

A true marketing strategy will be built into all elements of a business, whether that be product development, customer service, operations, sales, HR and even IT. Developing full and comprehensive marketing works with all of these elements to build a product or service that a customer will see, want to buy, enjoy how they buy (customer journey) as well as love the product itself and want to buy again and again. It will also ensure that those customers do some of the promotion for you and act as advocated for your business. An essential marketing strategy is ensuring that customers that love your product not only buy for themselves, but encourage others to buy from you too.

There are many fancy marketing terms but in essence marketing is a mindset… it is the process through which you as a business put your customers and potential customers first. If you don’t you will always be behind the curve. Be proactive and ensure you integrate marketing into all aspects of your business to stay ahead of your competitors. Do this and you will see both short and long term benefits and allow your business to thrive!
